ASSIGNMENT WEEK 1. 1. Read the official course syllabus, fill out and submit the Student Survey in order to introduce yourself, summarize your computer experience, describe why you are taking this class now and what you hope to get out of it. Plan for the time commitment as discussed in the course syllabus. 3. Take the Learning Syles Inventory and read the Learning Suggestions for your type. The course material can be learned by reading, following exercises, or looking at Web resources. You will need to know the terms and the tags this week to be able to start on your Project 1 web page due at the end of week 2. 4. Read The Virtual Erognomics Page. Resolve how you will work on the computer while paying attention to your body. 5. Buy the text: 'teach yourself Web Publishing with HTML 3.2 in a week' by Laura Lemay available at the DVC Bookstore. Week 1 covers the material in Chapters 1,2,3 6. Visit at least four suggested sites out on the Web. What did you find of interest about Web history, Web tutorials? 7. Become familiar with the Web terms and HTML tags for Week 1. Complete Exercises 1 and 2 to create your first web pages. You will need to know HTML Structure and Formatting for your first web page class project due at the end of week 2. 8. Send email to instructor: Report your Learning Style Scores and your response in a paragraph. Does your identified learning style fit with your experience? How do you think you will best learn in this Web course? Write a short summary of three web sites you visited. What did you learn, like/dislike? Did you encounter any missing links? Comment on the Virtual Ergonomics page. After completing the HTML exercises, begin planning/storyboarding the content and layout for your Project 1 web page due at the end of week 2.
