Course Organization Online Math 124 is organized by module topics and by week. Course information, specific goals and assignments areposted on the Web site. These include: learning vocabulary, solving problems, visiting web sites, reading articles, writing papers and providing feedback about your learning. You can get to any course page from the Index

Materials Required Text: Mathematics A Practical Odyssey, 3rd Edition by Johnson & Mowry, both DVC Instructors
Calculator: A scientific calculator with an exponent function. I recommend the TI-30
Internet Access: An email account and a place to browse the web and print out pages. You can sign up for a DVC account or with one of the local Internet Service Providers.

Course Notebook You will need to create an organized course notebook. Important pages for reference and reading have been formatted for optimal printout. I recommend obtaining a three ring binder and organizing it into these four sections:
Section 1: course syllabus, weekly assignment sheets, email addresses and phone numbers of classmates.
Section 2: Notes, vocabulary lists, example problems, ideas generated by web sites, printed email.
Section 3: Completed homework assignments by number
Section 4: Exams and their corrections

Math Lab
Math Lab hours are available both on the main DVC Campus and at CHE in San Ramon. Hours are posted. There is computer sign-in at DVC. For CHE hours please keep a timecard and turn it in with the final.
